Hi, and welcome to my site. Here you can find many things about me, including my resume, an e-portfolio, and a link to my book blog. I have also included a page with information about how to contact me.
Who I am:
I am a librarian who is currently in the Washington, DC metro area. For as long as I can remember, it has been my dream to work as a librarian in a public library – a dream that was fostered by watching my mother volunteer in my school libraries and her mother work and then volunteer in her local public library. I love to read and learn, and want to enable others to be lifelong learners and readers and help them get the information they need to answer questions they might have. I love making connections between library users and library resources!
Knowing that librarians come from a wide variety of backgrounds, I chose information technology as my undergraduate degree. I know that a solid grasp of technology is a very important skill to have while working in a 21st-century library, and since my parents are both very technical I thought that would be something I would be good at and enjoy.
My library career path has primarily focused on traditional library settings in an attempt to reach my goal. I began working in libraries in 2010 as a student assistant in my university’s library system, and then worked as a public library page during library school. After library school I became a part-time circulation assistant in the same public library branch. In summer 2016, I decided I wanted to be employed full-time, so decided to branch out to a “non-traditional” librarian role as a contractor in the US Environmental Protection Agency’s Office of Research and Development. While I would love to be in a traditional library environment, I am definitely open to using my IT and librarian skills in any way they are useful!
